Sleeping Cisco

This was a painting of our cat, Cisco, from quite a few years ago. I sold the bench that I originally painted him on and always though about painting him again. Cisco was a great napper and always looked so comfortable. I hope you enjoy painting Sleeping Cisco with me.

This painting is considered trompe l’oeil, painting the image to look realistic in 3 dimension on the surface. You’ll need a surface that a cat would sleep on such as a bench, chair, or a box like I chose. My cat is painted in actual size on a wooden lid of a metal box.

In this class I’ll demonstrate the use of crackle in the background using DecoArt Weathered Wood. We’ll discuss other types of crackle as well.

I’ll present the theory and techniques of trompe l’oeil as we paint our sleeping kitty and his mouse.
